Adjective phrases

Adjective phrases (sometimes called adjectival phrases) are phrases that do the work of an adjective. The main word in an adjective is usually an adjective. The words of an adjective phrase join together to modify a noun or pronoun.

Examples:

  • It is a very exciting film.
  • The long and winding road.
  • She is much faster than Stephanie.
  • His shoes were covered in mud.
  • They lived in a house made of wood.
