Interrogative pronouns

We use interrogative pronouns to ask questions. The interrogative pronouns are: who, whom, whose, what and which.

Examples:

•              Who is coming to visit us?

•              To whom were you talking?

•              Whose is that car in the garage?

•              What were you wearing?

•              Which will you read first?

Note: ‘what’ and ‘which’ can also be interrogative adjectives. This is when they are used to modify a noun.

Examples:

•              What subjects will you be studying?

•              Which hat did you choose?
