Full English Breakfast
A “full English breakfast” is usually:
- Fried or grilled sausages
- Fried or scrambled eggs
- Fried bacon
- Baked Beans
- Fried tomatoes
- Fried mushrooms
- Fried bread
- Toast
It might also include such things as:
- Hash brown potatoes
- Black pudding
It is usually eaten with tea or coffee and, perhaps, orange juice.
A full English breakfast is sometimes called a “fry-up”, a “full English” or a “full Monty”.
It is often on the menu of hotels, cafes and pubs, and is not only available at breakfast time. You will often see announcements for an “all-day breakfast”.
In hotels it is often an alternative to a “continental breakfast” which is usually much more healthy, consisting of such things as fruit, cereal, bread (with butter, jam, marmalade and other spreads), croissants, pastries, yogurt, juice, tea, and coffee.
There are regional variations of the full English breakfast, such as the full Scottish, the full Welsh, the full Irish and the full Cornish.
